We have brought a few people in by walking them through the steps to get packet stations up and running. There are a lot of objectives (small steps) that can be taken toward the overall goals (eventual target) of “learning how to do packet radio” and “hacking at this stuff.”

For each step, the person learning could share the experience with others (blog, social media, video, etc.).

Brainstorm list (todo: link these as needed):

• Connect radio to computer
• Hear and decode packets
• Make a list of stations you can hear
• Transmit packets
• Connect to a node you can hear
• Get a list of stations another node can hear
• Connect to any station for K2K
• Connect to a FARPN station for K2K
• Register at a BBS
• Read a WW bulletin at a BBS
• Send a message to another user at a BBS
• Send a message to a FARPN member
• Find and interact with a non-BBS application
• Set up your own BBS and figure out your messaging address

More advanced:

• Add another radio to your node
• Try another modem or terminal
• Operate POTA or SOTA by packet
• AXUDP stuff/forwarding
