Remote Transceiver Control Software

Once you've configured hamlib / rigctld on your machine, you might want to be able to switch bands remotely. Assuming your antenna is resonant on multiple bands, or you have an automatic tuner that can be triggered by the radio, this makes it very easy to change the band your packet station is operating on.

A few programs we recommend:

  • grig using rigctld in network mode - this works well across most radios and offers a large number of controls, assuming your radio supports them.
  • wfview for modern Icom transceivers - this is the best choice for recent Icom radios such as the IC-7300, but also works with older Icom radios.
